Green, green, my pond is green . . .

The pond has gone "green water". This is a normal part of the cycling process. It doesn't look very nice but I did like these pretty green bubbles coming from the waterfall. The fish don't mind at all--in fact it's quite healthy for them.

See, there really are fish in there!! Today, we added a small goldfish pond above the big one. It will serve as a type of "veggie filter". At the moment, it is functional but doesn't look the best. The hardware store is currently out of the clear tubing that we need and I also need some cement blocks to put the filter on.

The goldfish pond has a water lily, dwarf papyrus, pikerel rush, spike rush, umbrella palm, water hyacinth, anacharis and cambomba. The water lettuce took a tumble over the waterfall into the big pond. I'm going to have to fit a plastic mesh screen over the opening. Tomorrow is another day.
