We netted the pond to keep out any unwanted guests. The koi weren't exactly cheap and there are herons about on a regular basis. All of the frogs were evicted when we took out the small goldfish pond. They are capable of eating fish once they reach a certain size.
Well, look what's sitting on top of the netting--"Freeloader" the frog. It's just a small one and won't bother anybody there. So much for outwitting nature.
That's one of the new water lettuce that went over the falls yesterday into the koi pond. Koi and plants really do NOT mix. I rescued all of the water lettuce and they're now safely in the goldfish pond.
